Did you know: Lemonade was first brought to humanity’s tastebuds back in 10th century Egypt. Pyramids, breath mints, bowling, and lemonade. Those guys really knew their stuff. Sadly reading from the Book of the Dead last night in efforts to wake a mummy and kindly request they share over their great-grandmother’s recipe on a papyrus scroll didn’t work, so this is a more modern version of the Egyptian lemon drink called limonana. No promises it will knock Uncle Bob’s socks off at the next family barbecue. But if it’s good for King Tut, it’s good for us.
Ingredients:
5 to 6 whole, uncut medium-sized lemons or limes
3 cups whole milk (substitute coconut milk for a dairy-free option)
1 cup cold water
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed mint leaves
Ice for serving
Method:
Add the lemons (or limes), milk, water, and sugar to a blender
Blend until well combined (not too much or King Tut will rise from his tomb and yell ancient Egyptian insults at you)
Pour the mix into a fine mesh strainer to get all of the chunks and seeds out
Pour over ice and enjoy while watching the 1999 version of The Mummy

A human in Chicago named Jacob Ryan Reno has managed to make the big bucks on a party trick turned business idea: really terrible hand-painted portraits. Guaranteed not to get the nose right.
Year of the Shoe
We’re excited to be the bearers of possibly the best news of the century: Passengers are no longer required to remove their shoes in the security lines of US airports. It really is the small things.
