Snail mail might get a bad rap for taking its good old time. The snails likely disagree. And so does Jean Merritt. The Philadelphia gal has sent out thousands of handwritten letters over the years to strangers who request them. Handwritten joy bombs. On top of her words of wisdom, Jean includes three small postcards depicting different species of birds in her letters. She’s big on human connection and nature, so nothing is off limits. To get a letter from Jean, the process is pretty simple — simply send a note to her email lettersfromsouthphilly@gmail.com with a bit of a conversation starter and the address you’d like her to mail your letter to. If she thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars will win the Super Bowl, her favorite ice cream flavor, the best character in The Breakfast Club, and why, and if she thinks birds are real, are a few ideas. You can expect a nice, lengthy letter back in about one to two months. Not the worst weekend plans. The world could use more Jeans.

Sharing Is Caring
