A story about love. And it goes like this: A nice lady by the name of Leslie met a nice lad by the name of Alan. But she just wasn’t that into him. Albeit, he was persistent and kept asking her out. Finally, she accepted and after canceling the first two dates, she wanted to cancel date number three due to a hard day at work. Leslie wanted to have what she called a “grungy” evening. Sweats, TV, her dog, wine. But leave it Alan to join in on said grunge. Except he showed up in a tuxedo with a bottle of wine. They were engaged five weeks later, and married for 43 years.
And this is Alan Bean we’re talking about, the renowned NASA astronaut and the fourth person to ever walk on the moon. But he ended up leaving NASA to pursue his love of painting. And to do so, they lived in a one-bedroom apartment, but their love never wavered.
“Through the years he would tell me his success was possible because I believed in him. When he received awards he gave them to me saying he only got it because of me and our love.” — Leslie Bean
