We promised we'd be back with another Olympic edition of The Afternoon Delight and dang it if we're not sticking to it. Commitment is the secret ingredient. The gang can’t say we’ve ever participated in any Olympic marathons. We have a feeling our team would likely come out looking something like most of the athletes from the one held in St. Louis back in 1904. We’ll let you read this article about possibly the most entertaining event in Olympic history to get a better idea of what that is though. Spoiler alert: Includes, but not limited to, an 11-mile stint of hitchhiking, being slightly woozy after drinking egg whites instead of water for hydration, and then getting a little tipsy from a couple of swigs of brandy to “take the edge off.” If you happen to have participated in one of these big fancy things and crossed the finish line, a few folks around here would love some tips before they run this year’s big race in New York. Delight for your Thursday afternoon.
This week in stolen treasure. Which we would never do, only help find it.
Hidden Temple
No, we're not reviving the '90s hit show, but a hidden temple was recently discovered in Peru and it's about 4,000 years old.
Dennis Is Back
Dennis is not a Cape Cod tourist. Rather he is a flamingo that frequents the area and has just made his appearance for the season.
Let’s Go See the Cheese
Likely the most apt place to have a cheese museum — France opens its first ever. Are there others? Maybe. We'll check.
