Meet Pauldto. The guy pictured above. He’s actually just a guest in this story. This intro to the newsletter is about a young girl named Taylor and how the 18-year-old ended up with the cover shot of The Photo Issue of The Flow Trip. Apparently, Taylor met a wonderful gentleman we’ve admired for several years, Mr. Donal Boyd. Donal took Taylor and a number of other aspiring, up-and-coming photographers on an adventure to learn about different cultures and spend some quality nights in nature. We imagine it was on this adventure that, late at night around a roaring fire deep in the jungle, with drums beating off in the distance and a cool breeze cutting through the camp, Donal told the tale to Taylor and the crew about The Flow Trip and our Photo Contest — although in reality, it’s most likely Taylor just found us on Donal’s Instagram account. Either way, what matters is that on that fateful trip, Taylor came upon an older, curious orangutan named Pauldto and spent several hours documenting the experience. She then spent $6 and entered Pauldto into the Photo Contest. You can see Taylor’s winning photo in The Photo Issue, or featured in this fancy new gallery along with the other winners.
